British - Lithuanian Round Table

The British, Central and Eastern European Association and the Lithuanian Free Market Institute held a Lithuanian - British round-table at the Presidential Palace, September 7, 1999.
The round-table discussion aimed at reviving informal contacts and at developing intellectual dialogue between Britain and Lithuania. The discussion covered political and social aspects of European integration, Russia's role in the next century, the Balkan crisis and its implications for Europe.
The British round-table was attended by British and Lithuanian MPs, government officials, academics, NGO representatives, Financial Times and other media representatives. Among the participants were British Ambassador to Lithuania Christopher Robbins and Lithuanian Ambassador to the UK Justas Paleckis.
The first round-table discussion took place in London in 1998. This year separate seminars have been held in each individual country.
